How Electricity is produced

What's electricity?

Electricity is the presence and flow of electrons (electric charges) in one direction.

Electricity is used to transfer energy in ways that allow us to several important chores.

How electricity is generated:

...

n 1831, scientist Michael Faraday discovered that when a magnet is moved inside a coil of wire, an electric current flow in that wire.

An electricity generator is a device that converts a form of energy into electricity. Generators operate because of the relationship between magnetism and electricity.

Every generator has a series of insulated coils of wire (usually copper) that form a stationary cylinder. This cylinder surrounds a rotary electromagnetic shaft.

When the electromagnetic shaft made to rotate by some external force, it induces a small electric current in each section of the wire coil.

Based on how the electro magnet is rotated, we have different type of methods of electricity generation. Based on the method used for electricity production, we have different names given to different types of electricity e.g wind power, hydroelectricity, solar power or energy, thermo power etc.

We have tried to explain different types of electricity generation in very simple terms. Kids as well as adults can very easily grasp the concept of electro-magnetism and multiple ways of electricity generation.
