Differences between Bugs and Insects
Bug vs. Insect
We tend to use the word bug loosely for any very small creature with legs.
However, a true bug belongs to the order Hemiptera whereas Insects belong to the class Insecta . These orders and classes can be studied further under classification of animals.
True bugs have a mouth shaped like a straw that they use to suck juices from plants and they don’t have teeth. Usually they have 2 body parts.
The insects are characterized by three-part bodies -Head, Thorax, Abdomen, usually two pairs of wings, and three pairs of legs, (e.g., bees and mosquitoes). One of the key characteristics is that they have a sensory antenna.
Bugs have about 75000 species whereas insects have 1,50,000 different kind of species.
